USF SUN DOME RANKS 4th AMONG THE “2015 UNIVERSITY TOP STOPS” ACCORDING TO VENUES TODAY

The USF Sun Dome, operated by Spectra Venue Management and located on the campus of the University of South Florida, received another distinguished honor in its fourth year of operation following its $35.6 million renovation in 2012. Based upon total gross ticket sales and attendance from December 1, 2014 thru November 30, 2015, the USF Sun Dome ranked 4th among all University venues in the nation with a capacity of 10,001-15,000 according to Venues Today Magazine.

The USF Sun Dome moved up a ranking from last year’s University Top Stops, in which the venue was ranked #5 in the nation.

Venues Today Inc. is the leading source of original reporting for live entertainment and events, serving management, owners, and suppliers to music, sports, and meetings venues internationally with an average of 1,500-2,000 venues reporting.

This recognition also follows the USF Sun Dome being ranked by Venues Today Magazine this past June as the #2 overall venue in the state of Florida in its capacity size, a ranking the Sun Dome has now received the past three consecutive years.

“We are very proud to have been consistently ranked in Venues Today’s Top 5 University Top Stops in the nation over the last four years,” says Spectra’s Trent Merritt, Regional Vice President and General Manager of the USF Sun Dome. “It is a credit to our Spectra Venue Management staff and our partnership with the University of South Florida and the USF Athletic Department. We look forward to the opportunity to continue to raise our ranking for next year!”

In 2015 the USF Sun Dome hosted a variety of concerts that included Alan Jackson’s 25th Anniversary Tour, Christian music superstar Chris Tomlin, the Rich Gang Tour, Spring Jam featuring Keith Sweat and Ginuwine, Indian star Shreya Ghoshal, EDM DJ Zedd, the Queen of R&B Mary J. Blige, and Legends of the Old School featuring Vanilla Ice and Salt-N-Pepa among others. Other events that contributed to the venue’s #4 ranking include Gabriel Iglesias’ “Unity Through Laughter World Tour”, Gala of the Royal Horses, Nephew Tommy’s Comedy Tour, Solo Boxeo Tecate, and Premier Boxing Champions, which aired live on ESPN from the Sun Dome.

All Sun Dome ticketed events are available through charge-by-phone at 1-800-745-3000, Ticketmaster outlets, online at Ticketmaster.com, or in person at the Sun Dome Box Office. USF SUN DOME WINS RIVALRY CLOTHING DRIVE AGAINST CFE ARENA WITH OVER 1,400 ARTICLES OF CLOTHING COLLECTED

Spectra Venue Management, operators of two American Athletic Conference (AAC) venues in the state of Florida, the USF Sun Dome at the University of South Florida (USF) and the CFE Arena at the University of Central Florida (UCF), launched a friendly clothing drive competition between the two university arenas to coincide with their rivalry Men’s and Women’s basketball games.

The initiative was to collect new or gently used clothing for the homeless or those at risk of becoming homeless within the Tampa Bay and Orlando areas.

Both the USF Sun Dome and the CFE Arena competed in separate clothing drives to see which venue could collect the most donations by encouraging fans, students, and staff to contribute to this great cause.

The USF Sun Dome partnered with Metropolitan Ministries and collected 1,481 articles of clothing, beating CFE Arena!

Over 2,000 articles of clothing were collected for the homeless between the two venues.

The “Rivals on the Court, Partners in the Community” rivalry competition began last year between the two arenas, in which both venues partnered with OneBlood in a friendly Blood Drive Battle.

“This is the second year both venues have held a friendly competition that benefited a great cause while also adding an extra element to this great in-state rivalry,” says Spectra’s Trent Merritt, Regional Vice President and General Manager of the USF Sun Dome. “We thank our friends at CFE Arena for partnering with us on this initiative and to all of those who donated clothes at both arenas. Community involvement is one of the pillars of success for Spectra, and this is a great example of how we find creative ways to align our business, our partners, and our community.”

The USF Sun Dome collected clothes during USF’s Women’s basketball game against UCF on Tuesday, January 5th and during the Men’s USF vs. UCF basketball game on Wednesday, January 20th.
