GLOBAL SPECTRUM MANAGED USF SUN DOME RANKS 5TH AMONG THE "2012 UNIVERSITY TOP STOPS" ACCORDING TO VENUES TODAY
The USF Sun Dome, a Global Spectrum managed facility located on the campus of the University of South Florida, recently received a distinguished honor in the first year of operation following a $35.6 million renovation. Based upon total gross sales, total attendance and number of shows in 2012, the USF Sun Dome was ranked 5th in the nation in “2012 University Top Stops” venues with a capacity of 10,001-15,000 according to Venues Today Magazine.
Venues Today Inc. is the leading source of original reporting for live entertainment and events, serving management, owners and suppliers to music, sports and meetings venues internationally.
Global Spectrum General Manager, Trent Merritt states “We are very proud to have been ranked in the top 5 list of University Venues for 2012. This is especially true when you take into account that the USF Sun Dome was only open for 6 months during the year. Our success to date is a credit to our industry relationships and the partnership between the University of South Florida and Global Spectrum. We look forward to continuing to build a reputation for great events, great service and great customer experience."
After the $35.6 million dollar renovation, the USF Sun Dome celebrated their Grand Opening with a sold out Elton John show on September 14, 2012. Other events over the past year that have contributed to this milestone include; Florence and the Machine, The King’s Men Tour, Sesame Street Live: Elmo Makes Music and MythBusters: Behind the Myths Tour, among others.
Tickets for all Sun Dome events will be available through Ticketmaster.com, or at the Sun Dome Box Office.
