ON CAMPUS ARENAS AT USF AND UCF COMPETE FOR A GOOD CAUSE

Global Spectrum, operators of two American Athletic Conference (AAC) venues in the state of Florida, the USF Sun Dome at the University of South Florida (USF) and the CFE Arena at the University of Central Florida (UCF), is teaming up with OneBlood to launch a friendly blood drive competition between the two university arenas.

Every two seconds, someone is in need of a blood transfusion in the United States. Blood donations profoundly affect the lives of patients in our community, and in many cases, one donation could impact or even save the lives of three patients.

Both the USF Sun Dome and the CFE Arena will compete in two separate blood drives to see which venue can collect the most donations by encouraging fans, students, and staff to contribute to this great cause.

“This friendly competition will benefit a great cause at both USF and UCF and add an extra element to this great in-state rivalry,” says Global Spectrum’s Trent Merritt, Regional Vice President and General Manager of the USF Sun Dome. “Community involvement is one of the pillars of success for Global Spectrum, and this is a great example of how we find creative ways to align our business, our partners, and our community.”

CFE Arena will hold their blood drive on Knights Plaza, outside the arena, prior to the UCF vs. USF Men’s basketball game on Wednesday, February 11th from 2:00PM to 7:00PM. Fans interested in donating blood at the CFE Arena at UCF can set up an appointment or get more information on how to donate blood with OneBlood at http://admfin.ucf.edu/BloodDrives/.

The USF Sun Dome will hold their blood drive during Bull Market at the Marshall Student Center at USF on Wednesday, March 11th from 11:00AM to 5:00PM. Fans can set up an appointment in advance at https://www.oneblooddonor.org/index.cfm?group=op&expand=633500&zc=33620.

“Community involvement is very important to UCF and Global Spectrum, and we are always exploring new ways to get involved in our respective community,” says Global Spectrum’s Brian Hixenbaugh, General Manager of the CFE Arena. “This blood drive is a great way to get involved, and play off the rivalry between UCF and USF.”

The winning university arena will be decided based on the volume of blood collected during each blood drive.

Global Spectrum will announce the winner via social media on Monday, March 16th. Fans are also encouraged to use the hashtag #UCFvsUSFOneBlood as they make their donations and to follow the progress of the competition.
