USF SUN DOME RANKS 2ND AMONG THE “TOP STOPS IN FLORIDA” FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR ACCORDING TO VENUES TODAY
The USF Sun Dome, a Spectra managed facility located on the campus of the University of South Florida, received a distinguished honor for the third consecutive year following its $35.6 million renovation in 2012. Based upon total gross ticket sales and attendance from April 1, 2014 thru March 31, 2015, the USF Sun Dome ranked 2nd within the state of Florida in venues with a capacity of 10,001-15,000 according to Venues Today Magazine.
Venues Today Inc. is the leading source of original reporting for live entertainment and events, serving management, owners, and suppliers to music, sports, and meetings venues internationally with an average of 1,500-2,000 venues reporting.
“The Greater Tampa Bay market is an extremely competitive one when it comes to sports and entertainment venues and discretionary income in general,” says Spectra’s Trent Merritt, Regional Vice President and General Manager of the USF Sun Dome. “To have a sustained level of success in booking events and selling tickets in this environment is a tribute to the support we receive from the University of South Florida, the USF Athletic Department and all of our local, regional and national partners. And of course I’d be remiss if I didn’t also mention our team of extremely dedicated and dynamic Spectra employees. It is a true team effort and we look forward to another great year coming up.”
This year the USF Sun Dome hosted a variety of concerts including Alan Jackson’s 25th Anniversary Tour, Fiesta Máxima featuring Don Omar and Prince Royce, Tampa Urban Music Fest with Anthony Hamilton, Lyfe Jennings and Mali Music, Fitz & The Tantrums, Festival of Praise with Fred Hammond and Donnie McClurkin, Wiz Khalifa, Rich Homie Quan, and Christian rock superstars Chris Tomlin, Steven Curtis Chapman and Third Day, among others. Other events that contributed to the venue’s #2 ranking include Sesame Street Live: Make a New Friend, Shaquille O’Neal’s All Star Comedy Jam, World Series of Fighting 15, Titan FC 31, Gala of the Royal Horses and Dr. Jane Goodall’s lecture series.
